Competent Deer Stalker Awards
– Intermediate Stalker –
The deer HUB’s popular ‘Competent Deer Stalker Awards’ offer the opportunity for people to progress their skills and knowledge, at their own pace, with a combination of development courses and practical structured training in the field and larder.
Our Level 2 ‘Intermediate Stalker’ award builds on our beginners Level 1 ‘Foundation Skills’ course and is awarded when the deer stalker is able to demonstrate he/she has following skills and is able to perform the following tasks proficiently and unaided:
Training/courses required to complete Level 2:
*stalk sessions are charged for separately, as the number required to complete the award is unknown. For Deer HUB members, a number of stalks is included in their membership package which may be used for this award.

- Mentored, one on one training with one of our in house professionally qualified instructors/full time deer managers
- Use of a precision rifle/scope, binoculars, all ammunition and stalkers equipment
- Full colour training manual

- Competent Deer Stalker Intermediate Stalker Certificate
*A basic knowledge of deerstalking and shooting is required for this course, which is suitable for both novices, non FAC certificate holders and deer stalkers with some experience. Personalised Gift Vouchers are available to purchase for this course – please call the office to arrange.

Availability | Courses run Monday to Saturday each week throughout the year. Courses can be arranged with as little as 48 hours notice.
Participant Guidelines | Minimum age is 17. We are able to accommodate people with disabilities at some of our venues (please check when booking).
Duration | There is a time limit set of 2 years for this award.
Venues | We use a number of stalk venues located in the South of England and classroom training is carried out in either Oxford or Tunbridge Wells. For people with access to their own land, by arrangement we can also deliver the training stalks at your location, please discuss with the office staff when you call.

After completing the Foundation Skills one day training last year (and thoroughly loved it), I decided to embark on the Intermediate courses and training offered by the Deer HUB. What an eye opener!! I was assigned Justin as my mentor (a veritable fount of knowledge) and was pleasantly surprised how quickly my skills developed with his structured approach. One year on, I’m proud to say that I now have my FAC, a rifle/gear and the basic skills to find, shoot, gralloch, butcher and prepare my own deer, much to the amazement of my family – thanks Deer HUB
