Competent Deer Stalker Training
– DSC2 Preparation –
The Deer Stalking Certificate 2 (DSC2) follows on from the DSC1, which is an industry recognised qualification for UK deer stalkers and estate managers.
The DSC1 can be likened to taking a driving test – it is a largely a knowledge-based qualification which enables candidates to demonstrate their understanding of basic deer management principles and meat hygiene and to show competence in rifle safety and shooting at simulated deer targets. The DSC2 is more like an advanced driving test where a stalker’s skills and knowledge will be tested live in the field and witnessed by a DMQ ‘Approved Witness’ – for many stalkers, this can seem daunting.
The Deer HUB’s comprehensive DSC2 Preparation Course de-mystifies what is required and is designed to help you realistically assess your abilities and get you 100% up to speed enabling you to confidently embark on the DSC2 assessment(s) process.

Availability | Courses run Monday to Saturday each week throughout the year. Courses can usually be arranged with as little as 48 hours notice.
Participant Guidelines | Minimum age is 17.
Duration (1/2 day) | The course starts at 9am and finishes at 1pm OR starts at 1pm and finishes at 5pm.
Venue | We currently offer this training course over Zoom or in 3 locations – Mayfield East Sussex, Oxford and Horsham West Sussex.

I contacted the Deer HUB because I was looking to take up deer stalking. The provenance of the food I eat is important to me, so ultimately, I wanted to be able to put food I had shot, butchered and prepared myself on the table for me and my family to eat. The Foundation Skills course was very comprehensive and has really given me a great start on my quest. I now look forward to going out stalking and developing my skills further with the Deer HUB team.
The Foundation Skills course that the Deer HUB delivers is so much more than just an ordinary training course. With one on one tuition, I now feel much more confidence with my rifle shooting and along with the new knowledge I have gained, am now excited about putting my new skills to the test in the field.
